Jake Romm is a writer based in New York City. He currently writes for The Forward, Reading The Pictures, and other publications. He is primarily interested in street photography and, if asked, he would say that his favorite photographers are Josef Koudelka, Daido Moriyama, and Hiroshi Sugimoto.

Street photography, to me, is the act of placing the present firmly in the past – a nostalgia for the current moment. Hence the black and white, hence the tendency towards the dilapidated or old. I try to focus on capturing quiet, solitary moments – moments which suggest a sort of faded elegance and the degradation of this forced patina and imposed nostalgia.
