Galactique SO6
Combined under the name «Le Salon», Pauline Aellen, Charles Frôté and I, are building a photography collective who made it our goal to bring together young photographers with different backgrounds and ideas.
It is due this combination that then concept for our last joint exhibition – «I was a galactic wienerli» at Espace abstract in Lausanne in June 2017 – came from. Together with another 13 photographers we gave the visitors the possibility to dive into the galactic of wienerli from different angles. In my exhibition photographs, I created my personal wienerli universe with colorful, abstract picture compositions.
Clothes of Wood
Sometimes I play with my images on photoshop and I can find inspiration for new ideas from this. Initially, I was trying to place wood everywhere on the pictures and then I started to change the entire image. By the end when I had finished the images, I wanted to do more and began doing the same with other Kurdish cultural cloths. After I finished placing the kurdish cloths, I wanted more, so I took pictures of Morrocan cultural cloths with the same carpet pattern. I think I work with this pattern and cloth to find a sense of cultural identity. For me it is not always easy because I grew up with the Swiss mentality and the Kurdish tradition. I always try to mix both so I do not loose either.
Aso Mohammadi is a 30 years old Kurd from Kurdistan of Iran but he grew up in Switzerland since he was 5 years old, He started photography at the age of 15 when he saw his country for the first time in the Kurdistan of Iraq – for the moment he can’t go to Iran, he has never seen the country of his parents’ birth. What inspires him is form and the color of what he see. He can’t really say everything inspire him but most of things he see can be a potential subject. for exemple one of his images with the carpet and his mum sleeping, He needed just one second to see that she wears the same color of the carpet, then he asked her to sleep it so he could take the picture. He don’t really organize before shooting something – it’s more spontaneous.
