Columbus was not a scholarly man. Yet he studied these books, made hundreds of marginal notations in them and came out with ideas about the world that were characteristically simple and strong and sometimes wrong – Edmund S Morgan (Columbus’ Confusion About the New World)

“U Turn” consists of an accident, an error, a misunderstanding, a jest of fate, like what happened to Christopher Columbus. Based on geographical maps of the time, Columbus believed that the country he was going to was Asia. This was the beginning of the curse of the Americas, which began even before Columbus’s visit. Just look at Oliver Stone’s “U Turn”. Arizona. Bobby Cooper gets stuck in Superior, a small town lost in the desert. The mechanic who tries to fix his car is named Darrell. Desperate in the desolate streets of Superior, Bobby gets acquainted with the beautiful Grace. And with her husband, Jake McKenna, Jenny, Toby Tucker and Virgil Potter. So Darrell, Grace, Jake, Jenny, Toby, Virgil, almost the entire USA against Bobby Cooper, just as 500 years earlier America was against Christopher Columbus. You always return to the wrong place. As in this “U Turn,” 2 minutes and 36 seconds, the old phantoms destroy everything except the desire to return to the wrong place, were everything is backward, where everything is cursed before you have even gotten there.
